Granice Geyer-Smith is a seasoned attorney who focuses on commercial and residential closings, real estate development, finance, commercial leasing and general corporate law. During her career, she has represented numerous clients, including, developers, partnerships, investors and lenders.
She earned her J.D. Degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 1990 after completing her undergraduate studies at Wake Forest. Following law school graduation, Granice worked for three years with the law firm of Frye, Kasper & Booth in Winston-Salem, NC. Thereafter she joined the Charlotte law firm of Moore & Van Allen, PLLC in 1994.
As an associate and partner with Moore & Van Allen, she handled all aspects of acquisition, disposition, leasing and development of retail, office, industrial, medical office, residential and mixed-use developments.

Representative Commercial Experience
- Represented multi-family developer client with a $200 million portfolio of properties for many years in all aspects of acquisition, financing (construction and permanent), development and disposition
- Assisted factory outlet REIT client in connection with a $70 million interim financing agreement and subsequent sale of 35 outlet centers
- Represented a national drug store chain in the acquisition (including lease, title and environmental review) of 97 retail properties
- Handled all phases of negotiation, acquisition and leasing for an investor group purchasing lake marinas
- Represented the largest industrial and hazardous waste management company in North America in the disposition of 50 chemical services division facilities located throughout the country
- Managed the due diligence investigation of two hundred properties in connection with the extension of $700 million in senior credit facilities to an international forest products company
- Represented residential developer in all aspects of acquisition and development of single family home communities
